Crews News: Liverpool
Dear Crew member,
Here in Liverpool, I realise that the needs of a ships crew are very different to those of the passenger but that doesn't mean your needs are necessarily less important. That's why I've put together this newsletter, to provide crew with the essential inside information on Liverpool, to save you valuable time and ensure you get the very most out of our vibrant city.
Liverpool is in the midst of a renaissance and being named as a World Heritage City & European Capital of Culture, 2008 is helping to propel this renaissance faster and further. Visitors are pouring into Liverpool to explore its magnificent cultural heritage and are seeing a new Liverpool which is being reinvented rapidly.
Culture and the arts have always been important to the city: its musical impact on the world has been unique; its writers, actors and artists have been pre-eminent; its architecture has been widely imitated; its art collections world-class and its sporting prowess legendary. The spectrum of our cultural offering is astonishing.
With so much to see, you won't be able to do everything that Liverpool has to offer in one visit, which is why I've prepared a list of the Top 15 things to see and do - not chosen by the Tourist Office or decided by the newspapers, but as voted for by the city's visitors. These suggestions provide a taste of what the city has to offer, the style, the variety, the history. I can only tell you where others have been; it's up to you where your visit takes you.
Cosmopolitan Liverpool has hundreds of bars and restaurants for every palate and every budget, choose your cuisine and head straight there, or simply drop in on a place that takes your fancy. You'll find I've given you a few ideas as well as information about local buses, rail links, taxis, church services, shopping and many other useful hints and tips.
As Cruise Manager, I work hard to ensure that all passengers are given a great welcome, but I'd like to extend this hospitality to the crew of all Cruise ships and Royal Navy vessels that call into our great city. Should there be anything specific you would like arranging, then please contact me and I'll be happy to assist in any way I can. In the meantime, I hope you find this newsletter useful.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
