New berth back in business

Liverpool's new cruise berth has been reassembled after two 65mtr sections were removed for unscheduled dry dock inspections two weeks after its official opening.

The work was required to complete independent verification of the construction of the pontoons. It led to the £19m facility being closed shortly after Cunard Line's QE2 marked the official opening on September 21. No vessels were scheduled to call during the closure period and operators stress there were no safety issues in the berth being commissioned before the final inspections.

Successful inspection works were completed during dry dock at the Cammell Laird shipyard opposite the River Mersey berth.
