The Orrery Experience

Fantastic top tips for making the most of The Orrery experience.

When The Orrery project visits your school, it will take your pupils on a very special journey. They will be introduced to the 2008 programme through a dynamic school presentation, have the opportunity to explore the magical Orrery sculpture and engage with Culture Capsules full of exciting learning resources and supporting teaching materials supplied by our creative partners.

Through role play, story telling, costume and props, you and your class can explore Liverpool as the European Capital of Culture 2008.

Please download The Orrery Teachers' Guide for more information (PDF [1.4Mb]. Download time 5 minutes 40 seconds based on a 56k modem. Will open a new browser window.)

Cultural Capsules

The Orrery project will be accompanied by 10 Cultural Capsules from cultural institutions across the city.

Each creative partner has created a capsule of culture (interactive educational resource) celebrating the cultural fabric of its institution and its place within the 2008 programme.

Lesson plans (please visit links below) will guide the creative delivery of these capsules within the classroom environment led by teaching staff. Teachers are invited to select 2 Cultural Capsules to explore with their class on the day The Orrery visits.

Each creative partner will supply a cultural capsule for KS2 ( 7- 11 years)
